A sinus infection is swelling in the sinuses. It is usually caused by a bacteria. The most common symptoms are: headache, runny nose, congestion, tender cheeks, and eyelid swelling.

Sinus infections can also be treated by several home remedies. A lot of relief can be obtained by:
1. inhaling steam from a vaporizer or a bowl of hot water.
2. Applying a hot or a cold compress over the inflamed area would also provide relief.
3. A decoction of mustard seed powder and water, instilled in the nostrils.
4. Eating jalapeno peppers.

7. Applying paste of ginger and water or milk on the forehead.
8. Applying paste of basil leaves, cloves, and dried ginger on the forehead.
9. Inhaling steam of eucalyptus oil; and drinking warm tea are all found to be successful in providing some relief.

One of the most common sinus symptoms and not usually recognized is an achy feeling all over. Perhaps you feel more tired than usual. Most people will not connect this with a sinus infection unless they’ve had one before.
