Home Remedies For Stretch Marks
Stretch marks are usually a stretching of the inner layer of skin, the dermis. The fragile assembly of the skin is disrupted and the harm can be seen through the transparent epidermis. Newer stretch marks are reddish to almost purple in color, and they eventually disappear gradually to a silvery white, shades lighter than your natural skin tone.
Who gets stretch marks?
Anyone can get stretch marks and they are very common, although they tend to occur more often in women than in men. The areas of the body most commonly affected by stretch marks are the abdomen (stomach), the buttocks and the thighs.
Signs of stretch marks:
An early sign of stretch marks developing is when an area of skin becomes flattened and thin with a pink colour. This may also occasionally be itchy. Soon reddish or purplish lines develop (striae rubra). Over time these lighten to become whitish or flesh-coloured and much less conspicuous. Stretch marks are usually several centimetres long and 1-10 mm wide. Those caused by corticosteroid use or Cushing’s syndrome are often larger and wider and may involve other regions, including the face.

They are separated from the usual skin by dense collagen bundles. The following image shows the area of a patient’s thigh, which has been affected by stretch marks.
