- Increasing your intake of junk foods and greasy foods is not a helpful way to gain weight. Junk foods commonly contain unhealthy trans fats or saturated fats. Even though you need to boost your calorie consumption to gain weight, those calories ought to come from foods that are good for you.

- Healthy fats include omega-3 essential fatty acids sources

like tuna, salmon, flax, and walnuts. High-quality sources of protein include lean meats, fish, poultry, nuts, seeds and legumes. Healthy carbohydrate sources include fruits, vegetables and whole grains.

- Snack in between meals. Nuts, dried fruits, and yogurt are good options, but it’s also important to find nutritious foods that you will enjoy.

- Have a nutritious snack before bedtime, such as a peanut butter sandwich.

- It might be easier to eat five or six smaller balanced meals per day rather than eating three huge meals, especially if you are not used to eating much at one sitting.

- Pack more nutritious calories in each serving. For example, you may add grated cooked eggs to mashed potatoes, ground chicken to soups and gravies, cheese in casseroles, eggs, and soups, and nonfat dried milk in soups, shakes, milk, and mashed potatoes.
