Arthritis Diet- Foods For Arthritis
Foods For Arthritis Information
Study shows that a proper diet and nutrition are fundamental elements in the prevention of all types of disease, as well as arthritis. One of the main first step in treating arthritis lies in achieving normal body weight. Additional weight puts increased stress on weight-bearing joints affected with arthritis.
Below are some foods to eat for arthritis:
1. Seaweeds
2. Carrots
3. Green vegetables, such as watercress, parsley, celery, kale, and okra
4. Spirulina
5. Barley and wheat grass products (anti-inflammatory and detoxifying)
6. Cold-water fish such as salmon, sardines, or herring
7. Pecans
8. Avocados
9. Potassium broth
10. Soy products
11. Whole grains, such as brown rice, millet, oats, wheat, and barley
Does Diet
While healthy diets may increase the chances of good health, current understanding of the most common forms of arthritis suggests almost no role of diet in prevention or treatment. While it’s true that diet may affect certain joint disorders, the role of diet is strongest only in rare situations.
Gout, for example, may be worsened by diets high in purines, a form of protein found in sardines, liver and other organ meats, but this effect is rather weak for most patients. Alcohol intake, if a major part of one’s diet, plays a stronger role. One recent study linked the risk of developing gout with alcohol (especially beer), and another linked it with meat and seafood intake. However, the large majority of people who drink beer or eat meat or seafood never develop gout.
